The Deutsches Museum's collection comprises over 125,000 objects - from the first automobile to the electron microscope. Valuable originals such as the Wright brothers' first powered aeroplane, the U 1 submarine, the diesel engine or the first program-controlled computer - precious exhibits and their diversity make the Deutsches Museum's collection one of the most important scientific and technical collections in the world. Digitisation
The Deutsches Museum is expanding into the digital space, and has been doing so for some time. We are constantly digitizing material from the archive, library and collection for the “Deutsches Museum Digital” platform. Virtual exhibitions are being opened and virtual tours make the museum rooms accessible outside opening hours. In the workshop
24 specialised workshops belong to the Deutsches Museum. This is where unique pieces - such as the world-famous dioramas - are made, masterpieces restored and technology maintained. From the construction site
The ongoing modernisation of the Deutsches Museum is a project of the century. The museum building is being renovated and all the exhibitions on the Museumsinsel are being updated and redesigned.
